BC Rugby Parents: Week 1 Recap

Dear BC Rugby parents,

Last Saturday, our A and B side teams made the trip down south to Kingston to take on URI. After two weeks of tough practices, the boys were ready to test their mettle in a real match. The freshmen made a splash in their first college starts, with Eamon Coffey, Pat McMahon, and Finn McCauley all scoring tries. Pat McMahon managed to cross the threshold twice, giving him a commanding lead over our current Club President, Chris Siegert (0 career A-side tries.) Throughout the match, the relentless push from our forwards kept URI on their heels, and away from our side of the field. Combined with scoring plays from seniors Leo Henkels, Fergus O hOisin, and Henry Lyon, BCRFC soundly defeated URI Rugby 47-12.

The B-side game that followed picked up right where the A's left off, and BC Rugby closed out the day with a clean sweep. So prolific was the offensive production of the Killer B's that frankly, we couldn't keep track of the score. Suffice to say, it was a dazzling performance in every respect. Among the backs, outstanding contributions came from Jack Hurley '24 and Jude Littell '25. The forwards piled on try after try, including first-time scorers Ryan Lawler '26, Corey Sullivan '24, and yours truly. This Saturday, at 9:30am we will play Tufts in Medford. Please reach out if you are interested in providing food for after the match. We are grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Ricciardelli for bringing pizzas and gatorade for the whole team last weekend. If you aren't able to make it to the game but would still like to contribute, any donations sent via Venmo to our team treasurer, Chase Kraeutler, (@ChaseKraeutler) will go straight into buying breakfast bagels for the early morning bus ride this Saturday. For live game updates check out @bcrfc on Instagram and @BCmensRugby on Twitter. We are looking forward to another great weekend for BC Rugby. Best regards, Ryan Swords
