A letter from our President to all alumni

Dear Beloved Alumni,

The Fall 2022 BCRFC season is rapidly approaching! First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Christopher Siegert and I am the President of BCRFC for the 2022-23 Season. I have been a part of the club since my first day on campus, and now as I enter into my senior year, I cannot wait to give back to a club that has already given so much to me.

The officers and I have been working extremely hard to get everything in place for our return to campus, and I am happy to announce that we are able to hold a pre-season for the first time since the 2019-2020 season. We will be preparing for our first match @ URI on Saturday, September 10, which now is less than a month away.

Below you will find our Fall 2022 schedule. We are thrilled to share it with you all, and we hope to catch you at a few matches! Please note that this past offseason there was a league restructuring within the Liberty Conference, so you will find some new opponents on our schedule, including Columbia and Yale, in addition to classic matches against UConn and UMass. Following a fantastic showing at Alumni Weekend last spring, there were many alumni who were unable to attend because of scheduling conflicts, aching joints, or fear of defeat in the annual showdown. Thus, I wish to extend an invite to this year’s Fall Alumni Weekend, which is set to take place the weekend of October 8th.

The Fall Alumni Weekend will include a tailgate prior to the Red Bandana Football Game versus Clemson on Saturday October 8th. Then, BCRFC’s match against UMass Rugby is on Sunday, October 9th at 2:30 pm on Newton Campus. We are hoping the federal holiday on Monday, October 10th should provide some built-in travel flexibility. We would be honored if you alumni find the time to make it up to the Heights, connect with BCRFC alumni young and old, and watch the current players carry on your legacy.

Before finalizing any plans, I need to gauge interest on this Fall Alumni Weekend, so please complete the survey found at this link and let me know if you have any questions! Another exciting opportunity for BCRFC this season will be on Friday November 18th, where the club is scheduled to play in South Bend, Indiana versus Notre Dame Rugby on the eve before the BC vs. ND football game. The details of the match are still being finalized, so stay tuned and look out for more updates in the coming weeks.

Thank you all for your continued moral and financial support of the club. Trust that we are working to maintain all of the important values and traditions you alumni have set forth over the years. All the best, Christopher Siegert
